1:30 p.m.- 2:00 p.m. Eli Vanderbilt

My name is Eli. I work with real-life robots for a living, teaching them how to think like us. But my career also includes work on Minecraft, and the development of tools used in virtual reality. My passion for this kind of innovative work is intertwined with my ADHD, and I’m eager to share why that’s so important to recognize.

For the majority of my youth, I grappled with ADHD like an opponent on a playing field. In order to live with any measure of joy, I forced myself to recognize my own quirks and limitations, and use that self-awareness to find the things that brought me true fulfillment. As it turned out, this hard-fought cognizance gave me an arsenal of tools to work with as I grew up and pursued my passions in the world of technology. I’d like to share how standing in your own self-truth can give you an almost super-human ability to pursue your loftiest dreams.
